David Glasspool
David Glasspool, Senior Research Fellow in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. David holds a PhD in Psychology from University College London, an MSc in Cognitive Science from the University of Manchester, and a BSc in Computing with Electronics from the University of Durham. His research centres on cognitive systems - both intelligent computational systems and human cognition - with particular interests in executive control, routine behaviour and planning in the face of uncertainty. Research interestsCognitive science brings the different perspectives of cognitive psychology and artificial intelligence to bear on the shared problem of understanding intelligent systems. In practice, however, computer scientists and psychologists tend to inhabit different worlds. David's main theoretical interest is in frameworks which can bring the two fields together productively. Recent work has focussed on convergence between, on the one hand, empirical work on the control of behaviour in psychology and neuroscience, and on the other hand robotics and autonomous agent theory in AI.
